Diagnostic Imaging Training Academy at Edge Hill University Medical School

The Radiology Academy at Edge Hill University Medical School has a well-established iMac lab, that has recently undergone expansion. We now have x37 iMac’s to provide workshop-style teaching for all professions in clinical imaging. Additionally, we have also purchased CIMAR which is a cloud-based software facility that will provide a simulation environment for development of reporting skills. This will provide opportunity for all those engaging in radiology reporting to develop/enhance such skills in a safe, supportive environment, out with the traditional hospital setting.

As well as providing additional training capacity for radiologists, the Radiology Academy at Edge Hill University Medical School will provide opportunity for clinical professional development courses for the wider imaging workforce. Early professional development courses that have been delivered include; MSK/Arthropathies, CT head reporting, chest x-ray/escalation for pathology, CT Post Mortem, updates for reporting radiographers. Future activities include; learning from errors and discrepancies, basic interpretation of chest and abdominal x-rays and basic ultrasound interventional skills.

Many of our courses are free for North West NHS employees. If anybody has any particular demands for courses, please do not hesitate to contact us.

“The North West Imaging Academy Radiology Academy at Edge Hill University Medical School is here to provide courses for all healthcare professionals involved in clinical imaging. We pride ourselves in providing courses that are directly linked to the workforce needs in the NHS and will be working with local and national organisations in the light of the recently published NHS workforce plan (June 2023). Our courses to date have received excellent feedback and have all been over-subscribed and have therefore repeated many, and this is testament to the expertise of the speakers.

We are grateful to all the speakers for giving up their time to deliver our courses. We value the feedback of all our delegates and this is used to enhance our future course delivery. We look forward to seeing you at our future events.
